The regular meeting of the Town Board of Cherry Valley was held on Thursday July 13, 2023 with meeting called to order at 7:00PM by Supervisor Garretson

Misc. information to the Town Clerk:

  • Otsego County Sales Tax for the month of MAY $7,911.61

 

Community Center Alden Field and Park:

  • Alumni Banquet was held last weekend
  • A few other rentals are scheduled

 

Village:

 

Highway Department:

  • Loader is here. Tutorial will be given to the Highway Department Employees how to operate the loader
  • Next truck is scheduled for 2nd quarter of 2024
  • Speed limit adjustment for Keller Road will be 45 mph Need to post new speed limit signs
  • Town Highway Employee resigned and we have already hired another person to fill the vacancy.
  • Paving is done and chip sealing is done.

Otsego County’s website still lists the Town Highway as the drop off site for the recyclables.

·         There is a vacancy on the board at present

Highway Department:

  • Paving is caught up
  • New loader should be here June 26
  • Current loader is losing antifreeze-spoke with the auction people and they said wait and see what Volvo says when they see what is going on.  This could potentially affect the price.  Warranty expired 4 months ago.
  • Mower is up and going.

 

Nick Jordan, recent graduate from SUNY Cobleskill in the Fisheries and Wild Life program, gave a presentation on the Cherry Valley Creek as well as the Pleasant Brook Creek.

 

Federal/State/County:

  • Dave Bliss, County rep is present at tonight’s meeting.  He reports this end of the County will be getting Verizon on the Roseboom tower and have better service on the Southern part of Cherry Valley and Roseboom.  Spectrum will be installing in the Northern part of the town.  Cherry Valley ambulance no longer is in service.  County Route 32 will be paved in the near future.

  • Mill Road bridge has been issues a red flag by bridge inspectors.
  • Highway Superintendent Field met with Wayne Palmatier of GPI engineering and they do Grant writing. The fee to come in and do study is approximately $5,000.
  • Dietche Road is also tagged for major bridge project as well.
